Pete & Lucas (By Sam)

Pete came to me today and asked "Dad, can we watch the Lucas video?"
I said, "Sure we can". So, we did.

During watching it, Pete asked many questions.
"Did you like Lucas, Dad?" "Was he your best cousin?" "Did I know Lucas?"

He also laughed a lot during the video at the different faces & funny pictures that he saw.
More questions followed: "Did Lucas like you, Dad?", "He liked to have fun", "I wish I could know Lucas".

Thinking about Lucas, I have come to realize that my son, Pete, & Lucas have a lot in common.
They both have an enormous amount of energy.
They both love to laugh.
They both have the need to be hugged and kissed everyday.
They both loved to dress up in funny outfits.
They both love to tell people around them "I Love You"
They both live life to the fullest, not thinking of the consequences, but rather taking each day as it comes
They both like to be crazy, funny, & goofy.
They both make friends very easily.
They both love adventure.
and they both have huge hearts!

I can definitely see the connection between Dinah (L.L.) and Pete. Its a similiar connection as Lucas.
I love that I can see Lucas in him. I feel like Pete has a part of Lucas in him.
Watching the video this most recent time, I felt at peace with that.
For me, Lucas isnt gone, he will live forever in my heart.

Lucas Ryan Knight, 28, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Tulsa, OK, died tragically on October 2, 2007. Please join us for memorial services, Saturday, November 3 at 11:00 am at the Jenks Church of Christ located at 118th and Elwood.
Lucas was born in Tulsa on October 26, 1978 and attended Franklin Elementary and Edison Jr. High School. He moved to Chicago and attended Julian Jr. High from 1991-1993. After returning to Tulsa, he attended Bixby High School. He enjoyed sports and was active in basketball, football, ice hockey, gymnastics and Tae Kwon Do. He worked in construction, auto repair, landscaping, and as a cruise ship crewman and furniture warehouse assistant. In 2000 he moved to Jacksonville to be near his Mom and enjoy Florida's beaches, ocean and sunshine. At the time of his death, he was pursuing his certification as a Massage Therapist.

Lucas always had a great big smile on his face and was eager to live life to its fullest. He had a knack for making everyone feel comfortable with his wonderful sense of humor. There was never enough time to do all the things he wanted to do. He looked for the best in each day and surrounded himself with people to help him enjoy every minute. Lucas had a warm heart for children and loved the freedom he felt in the outdoors. He approached each day anticipating an adventure full of excitement, love and joy. Always quick to give us his smile and uplift us with his fun loving attitude, these memories will remain forever in our hearts. As newscasts in Jacksonville reported, Lucas died a hero, saving the life of a friend by pushing her aside before receiving the fatal impact of a hit-and-run driver.

Lucas is survived by his mother, Dinah Glanz, of 1514 Paris Rd., Columbia, Mo. 65201; father, Kirk Knight; sister, Mendi Knight Anderson; son, Austin Elkins; nieces, Kirstan, Samantha and Elizabeth; and 43 extended family members. Because Lucas valued the opportunity for an education, especially for those in need, we suggest donations in his memory to the Reba Glanz Scholarship Fund in lieu of flowers. Further information and a celebration of his life can be found at http://lucasknight.blogspot.com.
